What the Bible says about going to heaven


1.    All men are sinners

·     Romans 3:23

               “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory  of God;”

·     Romans 3:10

             “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:”

·     Eccles. 7:20

“For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.”


2.    The penalty of sin is death

·     Romans 6:23

     “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God  is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

·     Ezekiel 18:20

     “The soul that sinneth, it shall die.”


3.    Good deeds or works can never earn, pay, or merit our way to Heaven

·     Titus 3:5

             Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us,”

·     Ephesians 2:8-9

              “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

·     Romans 4:5

“But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.”

·     II Tim. 1:9

“Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,”


4.    Jesus Christ has already paid for our sins.

·     Romans 5:8

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”


5.    All we can do to go to Heaven is to believe (trust) in Jesus Christ as our personal Saviour.

·     John 3:36

“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.”

·     John 3:16, 18

            “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  He that  

            believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of
